What is Spinal Flow?

There is an innate instinct inside every human body to restore, and mend itself. Just as our gut digests our food and, our bodies know how to heal by harnessing the nervous system.

The Spinal Flow Technique is a holistic healing method that focuses on identifying and releasing any blockages or interference along the spine. It is grounded in the belief that our bodies have an innate ability to heal themselves. This self-healing potential is facilitated by a seamless flow of information from the brain to every cell, tissue, and organ of the body via the spinal cord.

When this communication pathway remains unblocked and clear, our bodies can perform at their optimal levels. However, life’s stresses and strains often lead to blockages along this path, disrupting the natural harmony and balance of the body. This is where the Spinal Flow Technique comes into play.

The Spinal Flow Technique

  • As we know, the No 1 most important organ in our body is the Nervous System, beginning with our brain and following all the way down the spinal column to the coccyx or tailbone.

Our Nervous System controls everything in our bodies, from our major organs, muscles, tissues, right down to our individual cells.

During our lives we all experience stress in one form or another and unless these stressors can be dealt with at the time, our bodies will store them away in an effort to protect us. Stress can come in 3 forms, Physical, Chemical and Emotional.

  • Physical stress can come from trauma at birth, falls at any age, accidents, sports injuries, illness etc. just to name a few.

  • Chemical stress can originate from medication, foods we eat, cleaning products, environmental influences, to even hormone imbalances to name a few.

  • Emotional stress can originate from the emotions we experience due to the behaviour of others, bullying, difficult relationships, trauma, abuse or losing someone we love.

Everyone responds differently to various types of stress.

  • These are just some examples of the types of stress everyone is going to encounter somewhere in their lives.

Our bodies will store stress in the form of blockages along the spine, as these blockages as they build up in layers they will start to reduce the movement and flexibility of the vertebra and restrict the flow of Cerebral Spinal Fluid (CSF) along with the life force energy, which is so important to keep our bodies healthy.

Our bodies are extremely intelligent and can heal themselves with a little help to clear these blockages along the way.

With Spinal Flow Technique, it is the practitioners role to help the body release these blockages by identifying and awakening the spinal flow through access points situated along the spine mainly on the sacrum and on the cranium (head). This is done with gentle touch/pressure on specific points and shouldn’t cause any pain.

In removing blockages, we can help restore communication between the brain and the rest of the nervous system so that vital healing energy can begin to flow again. This is when the healing really starts to happen.

  • A Spinal Flow Treatment involves the client lying face down, fully clothed on the massage table. This allows the Practitioner to feel access points along the spine. It is important the client wears loose comfortable clothing (NO jeans).

Healing takes time and this will depend on the amount of layers which the body has accumulated, how long the body has been storing them and also the body’s willingness to release them. The body will also facilitate healing in the order it knows best. Sometimes symptoms can increase while the healing and detoxification process takes place. The body holds the intelligence to adjust itself to bring back health and healing.

The best thing you can do to help this process is:

    • Be Kind and gentle with yourself

    • Drink plenty of fresh clean water

    • Eat a healthy diet

    • Reduce or eliminate alcohol and fast foods

    • Move & exercise regularly

    • And get plenty of rest
